GDPR Advice and Resources

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) is a regulation by which the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the European Commission intend to strengthen and unify data protection for all individuals within the European Union (EU).

We have been asked to produce a briefing paper with regard to the new GDPR legislation which is implemented across the EU on May 25th 2018.

Rather than produce a document which could rapidly become obsolete as new interpretation of the legislation is released, we have provided the following resources which we have found to be the most helpful and relevant to our clients. These are updated by the relevant publishing organisations, and should reflect the latest thinking with regard to GDPR. As such, Altrigen are not responsible for the content of these resources.

The definitive Guide to GDPR by the Information Commissioners Office (ICO).

ICO are the UK’s independent authority set up to uphold information rights in the public interest, promoting openness by public bodies and data privacy for individuals. They have produced this handy GDPR checklist of 12 steps to take now. If you don’t have time to wade through their full site above, this is a good place to start.

Free GDPR resources are available at the IT Governance UK blog website. These include helpful videos which explain GDPR, free downloadable templates and this handy infographic which explains GDPR in one minute.

Simply Business have produced this handy GDPR primer specifically aimed at small business and sme companies. Their accompanying article “What does GDPR mean to me and my business” explains in general terms what you need to know.

The above resources should provide everything you need to know with regard to GDPR. You know your business best, and are best placed to know how to adopt the guidelines provided by ICO et al.
